Encaustic:
Pairings

Artist's Statement  This series  is called "Pairings".  In this series, the focus is on the poetry of texture- no two are the same and each group evokes it's own distinct sense of place, time and aroma.  Encaustic, or beeswax, is a durable ancient medium. The "paint" is molten beeswax mixed with damar resin, for durability, and pure earth pigments for color. It's then brushed, poured, fused with a touch, carved., buffed or stained . Many of the titles refer to kitchen aromas because the process of painting is to me, so similar to cooking.
